Beginning December 1, Principal® is teaming up with Human API to help expedite the medical underwriting process of our individual disability insurance (IDI) applications – from weeks to within 1 business day! When an attending physician statement (APS) is required (based on age, amount, and cases in California), IDI applicants have 2 options1:
- Complete the traditional (paper copy) APS request process.
- Use electronic medical records:
- IDI applicants will receive a secure link to authorize Human API and Principal to access their medical records electronically at no charge.
- The link is active for 3 business days. After that, we’ll request a traditional APS for the applicant.
- Applicants can log in to Human API to review their medical records at any time. And they can cancel our ability to access their medical records once underwriting is complete.
