General information

How do I submit contracting paperwork?

Please go to Secure Upload

Pre-appointment

Most states and carriers do not require pre-appointment, but there are a handful of states that do require you be appointed prior to taking an application. Common pre-appointment states are: Michigan, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Wyoming depending on the carrier. If you’re writing in these states, check with us first!

State Licenses

  • Always make sure you are licensed in the state of the application you are writing. State insurance licenses must be effective prior to the sign date of the client application
  • Always make sure you have the Accident & Health or Disability line of authority on your state license prior to taking an application. The line of authority must be effective prior to the date of the client application.

Errors & Omissions coverage

Truluma and all carriers we represent require current proof of errors & omissions coverage.

Commissions

  • Commissions are paid from the carrier direct to you or your commission payee. Truluma does not disburse commissions.
  • Commissions from carriers we represent are paid as earned in the same mode as the client premium is paid. For example, if a client pays quarterly, commissions will be paid quarterly, and so on.
  • Commissions from most carriers pay on the 15th or 30th of each month. Carriers usually have a cut-off date that falls a few days before the commission pay dates.
  • All carriers we represent require direct deposit.
    • Most of the carriers we represent offer online access to commission statements and do not mail copies: Assurity, Ameritas, Mutual of Omaha, Principal, Petersen International, Standard* – statements are emailed to the address the agent provides on contracting paperwork
    • Fidelity Security, IDU, Illinois Mutual: do not offer online access at this time
